Role: Design System Lead
Years: 2020–present
I own the architecture of a design system used by 350+ internal products: design tokens, component APIs, theming, versioning, and documentation.
I define the system’s governance and contribution model, running intake, design review, and release processes that let product teams extend the library without fragmenting it.
I serve as product owner: roadmap, priorities, program metrics, and quarterly impact reporting to design and engineering leadership.
I partner with accessibility specialists to build WCAG conformance into component design and into the team’s definition of done, including remediation of core components; portfolio accessibility compliance improved 86%.
I rebuilt component specs, usage guidance, and engineering handoff around production-ready, version-controlled patterns, increasing front-end development velocity 51% and reducing QA cycles 29%.
I wrote and maintained the system’s documentation and onboarding path for designers and engineers, cutting ramp time 30% and speeding access to UX guidance 79%.
I built a decision framework and MCP server architecture that teaches AI agents how to compose native interfaces from design system primitives.
Cumulative system impact, measured in Apple’s 2024 internal design system survey: $113K reduced design and development cost per new application, $101K annual support savings per application, and $49M in annual cost avoidance portfolio-wide.

Role: Design System Manager
Years: 2018–2020

I was responsible for establishing and maintaining a cohesive design system that ensured consistency and efficiency across all digital products. My role involved collaborating with cross-functional teams including designers, developers, and product managers to create and implement design guidelines, reusable components, and best practices. I oversaw the continuous improvement of the design system, ensuring it evolved to meet the needs of the organization and its users.
I led the creation of PGi’s first design system team, integrating a design system into the UX team’s workflow. I transitioned the team’s design tools from Adobe’s Creative Suite to Sketch, Abstract, and Zeplin. I defined design best practices and component guidelines and set up a governance system. Additionally, I collaborated with the development team to develop a reusable component library.
